Protecting our Environment
Last year's Act on Climate set the ambitious goal of reducing our state's greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, but Rhode Island Senate Leadership wants to go even further and make Rhode Island the national leader in the fight against climate change. This year, we are going to pass a bill requiring that 100 percent of electricity sold in Rhode Island be generated from renewable energy sources by 2030.
We’re also proud to support the work of Climate Jobs RI and their legislative partners, working to pass bills that support green energy, protect access to clean water, and create economic opportunity in the growing renewable energy sector.
